Breech for a firearm, in particular a repeater rifle

Abstract

In the case of the breech for a firearm, the locking head (2), which is connected to the barrel, has a conical locking shoulder (16) which points radially inwards. A breech head (9) and a locking sleeve (7) are arranged in a slide (3) which can be displaced with respect to the breech housing (1) in the barrel direction. The locking sleeve (7) is split into a number of spring tongues (7b), each of which is fitted at the free end with a locking element (13) having conical sections which point radially inwards and outwards. An expanding cone, which interacts with the locking elements (13), is arranged in the vicinity of the front end (9a) of the breech head (9). An operating lever (18), which is connected to a pivoting shaft (17), is mounted on the slide (3). The pivoting shaft (17) is connected to a breech lever (19). A double-armed intermediate lever (20) is mounted on the slide (3), behind the breech lever (19), such that it can pivot about a spindle (20a) parallel to the pivoting shaft (17), which intermediate lever (20) interacts with an abutment (22) which is arranged on the breech housing (1). The free end (19a) of the breech lever (19) interacts with the first lever arm (21) of the intermediate lever (20) such that, when the slide (3) is pushed forwards, the first lever arm (21) comes to rest between the abutment (22) and the free end (19a), and the free end (19a) ... via a ... through the connecting line between the supporting point of the first lever arm (21) on the abutment (22) and the centre of the ...
