Composite triple filter for cigarettes or cigars - has finely divided active carbon or carbon fibres increasing efficiency

Abstract

Very fine synthetic or artificial fibres having a morphology similar to cellulosic fibres fibrillised by continuous processing, are introduced into a central chamber between two coaxial filtration tampons, to form a composite filter for cigarettes and cigars; the intrinsic structure of the fibres being maintained. Before the fibres are introduced into the central chamber or whilst the introduction is taking place, the synthetic or artificial fibres are pref. mixed with a finely divided absorbent material. This may be granulated active carbon or consist of fibres of active carbon. The aerated structure of the carbon fibres increases the efficiency of each of the components cf. their performance separately.
